2012 Hot Beauty Trends You MUST Try

Last week I did an impromptu interview for Kingston Belle Magazine (Lord have mercy, secretly hoping the footage gets destroyed, LOL; sorry Rashade) and one of the questions posed was what I perceived as being the beauty trends for 2012.

 Based on runway looks and all my readings I put together a quick list of all the beautiful colours to be embraced this year :)

1) Orange Lips

Coral was the it colour last year (2011) and it seems that this "it" colour is not going anywhere (at least until 2013). The authority on color, Pantone, just named tangerine orange the "Color of the Year" for 2012. Pantone says the vibrant reddish orange is both "exotic" and "friendly." And the best part: the sunset hue is flattering on ALL skin tones. 

To Try: NYX Round Lipstick in Haute Melon or Femme; NYX Round Lipgloss in Apricot; NYX Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick; NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipgloss in Orange Sparkle

2) Orange Eye Shadow
If you're imagining a Tropicana bottle on your lids right now, we understand why you'd be turned off. But wearing orange-based hues on your lids can make blue eyes pop and accentuate brown eyes as well. Plus, there is a way to wear the runway trend without looking like you belong in the juice aisle.

To Try: NYX Single Eye Shadows in Tropical, Golden Orange, Extreme Apricot or Hot Orange; If you're not so bold, more subtle NYX Loose Pearl Powder in Orange Zest pearl or Fanta Pearl; NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Orange.

3) Purple Lips

Even if you've never strayed from the pink lip realm, purple isn't too far of a leap so don't be scared -- and it can actually be flattering as you can play with the entire spectrum from lilac to wine coloured purples. Going sheer is a great way to wear the hue without letting it overpower your skin. Make sure you thoroughly cover any under-eye circles and blemishes when wearing a purple lip.

4) Electric Blue Eyeshadow

Just swapping your black eyeshadow for blue is an easy way to punch up your makeup look. And, blue eyeshadow looks great on everyone from pale-skinned blondes to dark chocolate skin tones. So what's the secret in wearing this bright hue? If you're going to wear it, you should own it. Which means you should pack the shadow onto your lid. You don't want to go wishy washy with this color. Just make sure to blend it to get a smooth finish.

To Try: NYX Single Eyeshadows in Matte Turquoise, Pacific and Maui; NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil In Electric Blue or Purple (It says purple, but i don't know who labelled it so); NYX Ultimate Pearl Shadow in Turquoise Pearl.

5) Green Eye shadow

Green eyeshadow is another gorgeous color that looks great on any skin tone, and if worn correctly, it will help your eye color pop. If you're worried about looking cartoonish, blend your green shadow with a gold one to tone it down a bit. If green seems too scary for you, keep the rest of your face nude.

To Try: NYX Single Eyeshadows in Lime Juice, Light Green, Lime Green, Lake Algae, Luster, Hunter Green (one of my faves) and Exotic Green (my all time favourite green);  NYX Loose Pearl Powder in Grass Pearl or Jade pearl; NYX Ultimate Pearl shadow in Lime Pearl.

6) Fuschia Cheeks

Fuchsia is perfect colour for everyone, but you also don't want to look like you're going to the club at noon. All you need is just a touch of the colour on the apples of your cheeks. If you're fair, apply just a small amount. the darker you are, the more colour you can apply without looking scary. To keep with this trending look, you can do either a paler or matching shade of fuchsia on the lips.  For an extra dramatic evening look,Try the fuchsia combo with a cat eye.

To Try: NYX Powder Blush in Pinky ; NYX Cream Blush in Hot Pink ; NYX Stick Blush in Pink Lotus; NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Paradise.

7) Fuchsia Lips
Fuchsia is not only a great lip colour that can be worn all year round, but is also flattering on all skin tones. Plus, it's the easiest of all the trends to pull off. From Lip Stains, Glosses or lipsticks, the choices are endless.
