How to use: Colour Correcting Concealers

Quite a few persons have been writing and asking me about the coloured NYX concealers (green, yellow, orange and lavender) listed on the website www.significantdetails.com, and also in the store. Here's a short guide on how and why they are used.

Most women use the single colour stick or liquid concealer and this is fine for everyday covering of dark shadows. However many women use a concealer shade that is too light when trying to reduce under eye circles. - This results in a 'Racoon Eye Effect' which only makes the dark circles look worse. The single colour can also make the face look flat and one dimensional.

For that special occasion or to correct specific blemishes and colour problems a multi-toned concealer, If used correctly, can achieve amazing results.

The appearance of age spots, birthmarks, blotchiness, broken capillaries, eye-area darkness, eyelid darkness, freckles, and scars can all be diminished by using such products.

UNDERSTANDING THE COLORS :

Beige: Use beige to conceal flaws and shadows-also brightens the under-eye area; (Orange concealer in the case of olive toned persons)

Mint Green: Use to neutralise red tones on the skin. Use this for covering blemishes, red blotches, rosacea, etc

Yellow : Used to conceal bluish bruises, under-eye circles and mild red tones on the face, bruises / sun damage / pregnancy mask / dark spots;

Lavender: Used to normalize yellow-coloured imperfection such as sallow complexions and yellow bruises. It can also help conceal very dark under-eye circles and dark spots on bronze skin tones

HOW TO APPLY CORRECTIVE COLOUR CONCEALERS :

Step 1 - Dot a neutralising concealer on carefully and blend with your fingertips slightly past the edges of the problem.  Let set.

Step 2 - Apply concealer that matches the colour of your skin tone over the layer of neutralising concealer. (You can step this step if you choose and go straight to foundation application, but it is recommended to apply a neutral colour concealer) Gently pat on a thin layer with your fingertips. Feather out concealer slightly beyond the edges of the condition. Let set.

Step 3 - Follow with a foundation matched to your skin tone. Pat on foundation with a sponge or fingertips in a downward motion so you don't make the hairs on your face stand up. Be careful not to rub in the concealer. Let set. And apply powder.
